Hough Oilfield Service began as a sole proprietorship in May of 1980 in Copan, Oklahoma with a truck and a set of casing tongs. In 1982 the business was expanded with the purchase of a power swivel, reverse circulating unit, cased hole and open hole fishing and rental tools. The company continued to grow and in 1984 an additional power swivel, reverse circulating unit, along with additional fishing and rental tools and the company's first yard and building were purchased and opened in Copan, Oklahoma.
The oil and gas industry took a tremendous downturn in 1986. The casing tongs, one power swivel and circulating unit were sold. Having no debt allowed David Hough to continue operating the remainder power swivel, circulating unit along with the fishing and rental tool business.
As our customer base continued to increase, a yard and building were purchased in Cushing, Oklahoma in January of 1988. The business continued to prosper and in April of 1989 an additional business was established and named HOSS Well Service. Two double/triple workover rigs were purchased. HOSS continued to provide excellent workover rig service until April of 1992 when the rigs were sold and energies were concentrated on the fishing and rental tool business.
On July 1, 1995, "Hough Oilfield Service, Inc." changed their name to "HOTCO". An additional yard was opened in Ada, Oklahoma. Business was exceptional for the first year while the second year brought increased expenses and a downturn in sales. To correct the situation a major management change occured in January of 1997. There was a major turnaround in activity as well as a large increase in the customer base. Expenses decreased while profit increased.
During 2008 the company name was rearranged to "HOTCO Oilwell Fishing & Rental Tools."
In the spring of 2008 the company ventured out of the normal line of business and established an additional company named "HOUGH HAULIN".
HOTCO continues to grow in 2009. Twelve years of steady growth and an increase in customer demand with their most profitable year ever, HOTCO has been fortunate enough to purchase an additional tool company in Lindsay, Oklahoma which had been in business for only a few short months. With this acquisition HOTCO has acquired a new and large customer base along with new equipment and tools.
HOTCO employs eighteen which include David Hough along with eleven other experienced fishermen and tool supervisiors. Mechanics, shop managers, salesmen and office personal make up the rest of HOTCO's staff. Experienced and dedicated employees make HOTCO an extremely efficent company.
